: Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 started Friday’s session on a negative note amid weakness across global markets, after US inflation data fuelled fears of aggressive rate hikes. All sectors were deep in the red in the morning. Financial, IT and consumer durable shares were the biggest drags on headline indices. Broader markets also weakened, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices down around one percent each. Investors awaited the last leg of corporate earnings for cues, a day after Hero MotoCorp and Zomato reported their financial results for the December quarter.
